Chorley 'July Wakes' Folk Festivals at Charnock Richard in Lancashire. 23-25th July 1976 and 15-17th July 1977.

In 1976 and 1977 Chorley became the centre of the folk world, with the July Wakes Festivals aiming to be the North’s answer to the Cambridge Folk Festival.
They were both held at Park Hall, Charnock Richard, part of the site of Camelot Theme Park, and featured major artists alongside more local ones.
A third festival was being planned for 1978 with Lindisfarne as headliners but it was victim to a cash shortage.
I had the good fortune to attend both festivals along with my first camera, a Zenit-B SLR, and these are some of the first ever 'Folk music' photos taken with it.
