As mentioned elsewhere on this site Jack and Mavis Lee were instrumental in my introduction to 'Folk' music when I regularly attended their weekly Fisherman's Inn Folk Club at Hollingworth Lake in the late 70's.
Jack celebrated his 80th Birthday in style with a party for friends and family at Milnrow Conservative Club in 2005.
It comprised of a ceilidh with The Legplatters and guests, John Howarth of the Oldham Tinkers and Pete McMillan of the Hometowners, along with an intermission of music from Jack and his daughter Anita who were then joined onstage firstly by Mavis and then other members of their family. This section concluded with one of Jack's renowned monologues.
A great time was had by all in a fitting tribute to Jack Lee who, in my opinion, should be a national treasure!
